Nineteen children from year 5 and 6 spent three days away at Carroty Wood Outdoor Adventure Centre last week accompanied by Mrs Lim, Mrs Gaffney and Mr Olbrechts. They took part in different challenging activities including kayaking, conquering a High Ropes course, problem solving and team-building games and navigating an assault course surrounded by mud! On the way home, they also visited Bodiam Castle.
Although the weather was not very kind to them, apparently kayaking in the rain is not recommended, all of the children joined in enthusiastically and cheered each other on when overcoming fears or tackling new situations. Due to torrential rain on the last evening, the planned campfire was not able to go ahead but the children returned very tired, with positive stories to tell of their days away.
Many thanks to the adults who accompanied the trip, the children were very impressed that Mr Olbrechts tried all the activities and Mrs Lim and Mrs Gaffney made sure everyone was well-fed and happy.
