Term 1
This term our big, open question is 'Who am I?' where we will be focusing on making positive relationships with the new children in Bees Class and getting to know who they are; what makes them special; who is in their family; what their favourite things are and what they like; school and village community and being healthy. All this will be guided by the children's interests and be done through play in our 'discovery time' and through adult-led activities.
The children will be learning new routines and expectations and earning lots of house points by showing that they can follow the school rules of 'Ready, Respectful, Safe'.
Later on in the term we will be exploring the school environment and the local area of Littlebourne. Trips to the Church for our Welcome Service and Harvest Festival and our first seasonal walk around the village is on the list for Term 1.
Phonics teaching will begin in week 3, starting with s, a, t, p, i, n, m, d. Keep your eye out for the date for our phonics parent meeting to support you in helping your child with their phonics at home.
We understand that this can be a scary time sending your little people to school for the first time, so please do not hesitate to speak to one of the team at any time. We will be happy to answer any questions or offer any guidance and support.
We look forward to the year ahead.
Book Blessing
Reverend Lesley visited us today to bless our brand-new book bags. She talked about the Church and how we are always welcome, and went through our school values and how this links to Christianity and worship. We were very respectful and listened carefully – especially when she blessed our bags. We look forward to more visits to the Church and with Reverend Lesley. Look out for dates for the Welcome Service and Harvest Festival later in the term.
