Together we learn, achieve and grow

Generous PTA

Generosity of PTA

At last night’s PTA meeting, a ‘wish list’ created by the school was discussed so that funds raised at the events over the last few months could be allocated to benefit the children in the school. Thanks to the success of events such as the Summer Fair, Great British Bake-Off  and the Christmas fair the PTA had raised enough to fund every item on the list – a total of about £1600.

This means that the Wizard of Oz drama performance to the whole school has been fully paid for as well as transport costs for the forthcoming  trip to Chiddingstone Castle in March.

The children’s learning in Science will be enhanced by the use of data-loggers (machines that connect to the computer and accurately measure temperature and sound and light levels and display the information graphically on the screen) and electronic microscopes, which are child-friendly to use and allow enlarged images to be displayed on a screen and printed out.

Each class will be provided with an electronic voice recorder to go with the cameras previously funded by the PTA, this will allow children to easily record their ideas and impressions on trips out of school as well supporting learning in the classroom.

The school will become members of the National Trust and English Heritage which will allow us to visit their sites free of charge for a year. Emerald Class will be receiving a ‘listening station’ which allows a group of children to listen to the same story via headphones.

One further item has also been funded – information on this will be revealed soon!

Many thanks to the members of the PTA committee who have worked so enthusiastically to raise this money, and to every parent and friend of the school who has supported the events by making cakes, selling raffle tickets, donating items for sale, manning a stall or turning up to show support. We hope you can see how worthwhile the PTA fund-raising efforts are to your child and will continue to back their efforts over the coming year.

A timetable of events from now until was July was drafted at the meeting – this will be shared with everyone once dates and details are confirmed.
