Littlebourne Church of England Primary School

Together, we grow, thrive and achieve

Physical Education

Intent

At Littlebourne CE Primary, we believe it is essential that PE is taught in a way that fosters children’s love of physical activity empowering all to be lifelong, respectful learners. Fundamental skills, knowledge and understanding underpin PE lessons enabling children to use physical activity to keep their minds and body healthy.

Implementation

With a range of sporting activities, our inclusive approach to physical education provides challenging yet enjoyable learning opportunities for all. Skill development and progression enable children to flourish and develop a meaningful sense of improvement – promoting and celebrating self-achievement, whilst showing good sportsmanship through respecting one another.

Children are actively encouraged to participate in extracurricular physical activity, with staff providing an array of afterschool clubs. Children are also encouraged to take part in morning dance, daily mile run and inter or intra school sports competitions.

Impact

Our children will be able to:

  • Demonstrate they have the knowledge and understanding of how to live healthy active lifestyles.
  • Be self motivated to participate in physical activities and competitive sport.
  • Show compassion towards others and are supportive of all participants, regardless of skill level or ability.
  • Show they are equipped with the necessary skills to enjoy taking part in sport
